Cancer Is Never Past Tense

I just read a great post in reaction to journalist Andrea Mitchell's announcing she had breast cancer.

Sorry, but you don't get to use past tense with cancer. You have it, then you hope you don't, but you don't know until you die of something else or you turn up stage IV.

My pet peeve is people who say, "Aren't you so happy you're all done with cancer."

Get a clue!!!!!

Oh, you are so right. Nobody is ever done with cancer. Psychologically it stays with you, even if you never have a recurrence or it spreading.

I agree. There is no past tense with cancer.
