A daughter of a breast cancer survivor has asked Victoria's Secret to make and sell bras that will fit prosthetics for women who have had mastectomies, according to this article.
All I can say is in typing that sentence, I can't see how Victoria's Secret fits with mastectomies and prosthetics. It just feels wrong typing it.
Absurd, even. But then I'm not a well-meaning daughter of a survivor, I am a woman who had breast cancer, had a mastectomy and had to find bras that would hold my breast form for two years, until I had reconstruction.
Let me just say I don't trust Victoria's Secret with the job of building a functional, comfortable bra for women who have had mastectomies. It's not their niche, and I would prefer they didn't co-opt it in the name of making more bucks.
Helping me post-cancer is really not as simple as letting me spend my money on a frilly bra.
No, that's entirely absurd.
And, speaking of the article, please say it with me again: "No one can know they've beaten breast cancer until they live a long life and die of something else."

dendritic cell therapy cancer - Cancer is a generic denomination, which includes different forms of the same illness. All types of cancer have in common, that a group of cells show uncontrolled growth which leads to the formation of tumors threatening the life of the patient. All cancers begin in cells, the body's basic unit of life. The cells grow and divide in a controlled way to produce more cells as they are needed to keep the body healthy. When cells become old or damaged, they die and are replaced with new cells. cancer treatment in india
In this case I'll have to take a different perspective. I would love it if Victoria's Secret and all the lingerie stories began selling bras with pouches for prosthesis.
The other day, I was as the mastectomy shop and the bra there was 95$ . . . I don't have the insurance to cover that type of purchase. Then I walked by LaSenza (while transferring buses at the mall) and saw bras on sale for 9$.
For me, it would be lovely to buy pink, bright blue, neon, tiger strip, purple on black and all kinds of lovely frilly bras that fit with my prosthesis, but didn’t break the bank. If Victoria Secret, or anyone else, could offer that, I'd be glad for it.

I agree wih Catherine- I would love for Victorias secret to sell mastectomy bras! I would love to feel that I could go into a normal store and buy a "normal" (mastectomy) bra. Frilly and colorful! Just because I lost a breast doesn't mean that I need to like the Brunhilda, armor type of bra....
It could be that since I've had reconstrution, I don't really have a dog in this fight anymore. That, of course, means my opinion isn't as important as others who do. I was lucky enough to have good insurance that paid for very top of the line, much nicer than I would ever buy with my own money mastectomy bras. In fact, they're so nice I still wear them today.
In this matter, I say to each their own. Frankly, if anyone can come up with a comfortable post-mastectomy bra, I'd probably be interested - but only if it's not pink. I have not found anything comfortable to wear yet. It's a struggle.

The main role of the red fruit is to increase the patient's immune system and localize the cancer cells so that cancer cells do not easily spread, and more easily removed, as well as non-toxic making it safer for the patient. more information click www.buahmerah-redfruit.com
